Interpretation

(1) |
In these Regulations unless the context otherwise requires- |
|

(a) |
"fire certificate" means a certificate issued under these Regulations by the Health and Safety Executive; "responsible person" in relation to any premises means the person having control of those premises whether as occupier or otherwise, in connection with the carrying on by hum of a trade, business or other undertaking (whether for profit or not) except that in the case of a mine within the meaning of the Mines and Quarries Act 1954(c) the responsible person shall be the manager of that mine; |

(b) |
any reference to a numbered Regulations is a reference to the Regulations in these Regulations bearing that number. |

(2) |
The Interpretation Act 1889(d) shall apply to the interpretation of these Regulations as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament. |
