To join the Fire Service, there are certain physical, medical and educational requirements you will have to satisfy, including statutory age and height limits.

Recruitment is undertaken by each local fire brigade and they are responsible for their own recruiting procedures.

The height restrictions no longer apply nationally.
This is as a result of a case brought in Northern Ireland where a 5'5" female appealed to the Home Office and then to the European Court that the height limit was discriminatory and was upheld.
South Wales Fire Service has recently recruited and has dropped the height specifications.
