St Helier car workshop fire closes street

Residents and businesses were led from a Jersey street after fire broke out in a car workshop.

Firefighters tackled the blaze in Cheapside, St Helier, after it broke out at about 20:00 GMT on Friday.

Elizabeth Place was closed for several hours while crews worked to put out the fire.

No-one was hurt and residents and shop owners were allowed back into their properties in the early hours of Saturday.
