Woman dies after Ipswich fire engine crash

A 37-year-old woman has died after a crash involving a fire engine and a motorcycle in Ipswich.

Motorcyclist Alison Challis was pronounced dead in Ipswich Hospital after the accident, which happened on Thursday evening in West End Road.

The fire engine was not responding to an emergency call at the time of the crash, Suffolk Police said.

Her partner Colin Chandler said: "I loved my beautiful partner Alison so much and so did her mother."

He added: "She was loved by her friends and she loved riding her motorbike.

"We are heartbroken. We do not know how we will live without her."

Ms Challis lived in Ipswich.

The fire engine was not responding to an emergency call at the time of the crash, Suffolk Police said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has more information is asked to call Suffolk Police.
