Police appeal over Edinburgh flat fire murder inquiry

  • 2-10-2011

_51171564_stewarttaylor.jpgPolice have made a fresh appeal after the death of a chef whose body was found in a burning flat in Edinburgh.

Stewart Taylor, 33, was recovered by firefighters from the blaze in Chalmers Crescent, in the Grange, on Monday.

Officers earlier made an appeal for the driver of a van seen at 0715 GMT. They now want to speak to a second white van driver seen in the area at 0730 GMT.

Frank Moore, 43, of Dalkeith, has been charged with his murder and the attempted murder of his girlfriend.

Moore also faces a charge of breaching the peace. Appearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday, he made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

Mr Taylor, who was originally from Aberdeen, was found lying beside his girlfriend Lynsey Methven, 30, who had been seriously injured.

She is currently being treated in hospital.

Detectives described the second driver as white, 30 to 45, with collar-length curly brown hair.

A spokesman for the Lothian and Borders force said: "He may have information that can assist officers with their inquiries and is asked to come forward immediately."
