Twenty pigeons die in suspected arson in Rotherham

Twenty pigeons have been killed in South Yorkshire after a suspected arson attack on a pigeon loft, the fire service has said.

The fire service was alerted to the fire on an allotment in the Swallonest area of Rotherham at about 0330 GMT.

About 20 pigeons were inside the pigeon loft when it was alight, but none of them survived, the fire service said.

It is believed the fire was started deliberately. The police have been informed of the incident.
