Heavy rain continues to cause disruption in east Kent

  • 8-14-2010

_48740213_flooding_deal.jpgHeavy rainfall and flash floods have continued to cause disruption in eastern parts of Kent.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to the Westwood Cross centre in Thanet after six inches (15cm) of water flooded the shopping area.

The centre has opened but many shops have suffered water damage.

The Met Office issued a weather warning for Kent on Saturday morning but said the heavy showers were likely to die out throughout the day.

Residents in Deal are still recovering after heavy downpours flooded The Strand, High Street, Marine Terrace and Canada Road on Friday.

One resident in Albert Road told BBC Kent she had flood water and sewage coming into her home.

One resident said that at the peak of the flooding, the water was waist-high.
