Four injured as minibus overturns on M25 in Surrey
- 7-29-2010
Four people have been taken to hospital after a minibus overturned on the M25 in Surrey.
The Easybus mini-coach was carrying four passengers and a driver when it overturned on the clockwise carriageway near the M23 junction at about 1630 BST.
Fire crews were called to the scene amid reports that two people were trapped in the vehicle.
The clockwise carriageway and M23 slip roads were closed.
South East Coast Ambulance Service said one patient was taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting, south London, with serious leg injuries.
Motorway closures
Three other people were taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill with minor injuries after the incident between junction 7 for the M23 and junction 8 for Reigate.
A statement from Easybus said: "An Easybus vehicle was involved in an incident on the M25, on the clockwise carriageway west of the intersection with the M23.
"It is believed there were four passengers on the vehicle in addition to the driver."
The company said the vehicle was an Optare Soroco mini-coach with a capacity of 19 passengers.
Surrey Police closed the clockwise carriageway and urged motorists to find alternative routes.
Slip roads for the M23, which serves Gatwick Airport in West Sussex, were also shut.
Police said the clockwise carriageway was closed between junctions 6 and 8. The anti-clockwise carriageway was open but traffic was moving slowly.
