Driver dies in two-car collision in Oxfordshire

  • 7-11-2010

A driver has been killed and another taken to hospital following a collision in Oxfordshire.

Emergency crews were called to the A420 in Kingston Bagpuize, near Abingdon, on Saturday at about 1300 BST.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said two cars collided in the outside lane of the dual carriageway and both drivers were trapped.

The road was closed while fire crews freed the casualties but one was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second driver was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken by ambulance to hospital for a check-up.

Watch manager Gary Walker said: "It is a real tragedy that another person has lost their life on this road, despite the fact that both drivers were wearing seat belts.

"One driver died from the injuries sustained in the collision."
