Thousands of chickens die in Hampshire farm barn fire

Thousands of chickens have perished after fire broke out at a farm in Hampshire.

Firefighters were called to Greenwood Farm in East Wellow shortly after 1700 BST on Friday after flames were spotted in one of the sheds.

The 60m by 25m (197 ft by 82 ft) building was completely destroyed and all the chickens inside were killed.

More than 60 firefighters tackled the flames at the height of the fire which was extinguished by midnight.

Crews remained at the scene on Saturday damping down.

An investigation into the cause is under way.
