Woman injured in Plymouth city centre flat fire

A woman has been taken to hospital after a severe fire at a flat in Plymouth city centre.

Six fire appliances and an aerial platform were called to the building in Bilbury Street, near the Jurys Inn hotel, at about 1730 BST.

The woman was found on the floor of the first-floor flat in the eight-storey block after fire officers gained access. Her condition is not known.

An investigation into the cause was taking place, the fire service said.

No other occupants of the building were injured.
