Teignmouth fire service warns over beach fire threat

Beach huts in Teignmouth are under threat following an increase in unattended beach fires, the fire service has said.

Teignmouth fire service said it had attended numerous fires on the beach in recent weeks.

In some cases wood from the huts was used to start the fire.

Station Commander, Ian Radford said: "If it wasn't for local beach hut owners spotting the flames these fires could cause serious damage."
