Portland derelict property fire 'is arson'

  • 6-15-2010

A fire which seriously damaged a derelict house in Dorset is thought to be arson.

Dorset Fire and Rescue were called to the property on Weston Road, Portland, at 1736 BST where two fire crews found smoke coming from the empty house.

Firefighters using breathing apparatus were able to contain the fire to the property's front ground floor room.

Crews said they found a further fire in paper and cardboard at the rear of the property, which they also extinguished.
