Van fire leads to exclusion zone

  • 6-8-2010

A 200-metre exclusion zone was set up in Stirling after a van, containing an acetylene cylinder, caught fire.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at Broadleys Road, near the Springkerse industrial estate, at about 1315 BST.

They set up the exclusion zone and surrounding businesses were asked to vacate their premises.

About an hour later it was discovered that the acetylene cylinder had split and there was no longer any danger to the public.

The exclusion zone was removed but Broadleys Road remained closed.
