Lichfield chip-pan fire frustrates crew

Firefighters have expressed their frustration after being called to a chip-pan fire in Staffordshire where the smoke alarms had been disconnected.

Ten firefighters had attended the call in Lichfield during the early hours of the morning.

If the occupants had contacted the fire service any problems with the smoke alarms could have been resolved, the service said.

One man was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation problems.

He has since been discharged.
