Rebecca Williamson collected an award on behalf of her brother Firefighters from across the country have received national awards in a lavish ceremony at Wembley Stadium.
The Spirit of Fire Awards saw members of the service and the public honoured.
Rebecca Williamson, from Edinburgh, collected a bravery award on behalf of her brother Ewan Williamson, who died tackling a blaze in the city last July.
Entertainer Bruce Forsyth, politician Ken Livingstone, broadcaster Esther Rantzen and Falklands War veteran Simon Weston were at the event.

Ms Williamson said of her brother: "I wish he was here but he's not so I'm very proud to pick it up on his behalf."
The Firefighter of the Year award was won by Simon Hawkins, from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, who returned to duty despite losing a leg in a motorcycle accident in 2004.
He said: "I can't quite believe it. I'm astounded and I thought everyone tonight was great."
Forsyth, who presented him with the honour, said: "He is the star of our show tonight. I was proud to be giving him the award."
The Child Public Hero award went to Tyler Holpin, from Cwmbran in south Wales, who helped rescue six children from a burning house.
The 16-year-old said: "It's just instinct to act upon what you can do and thankfully I got them all out."
The awards were organised by the Fire Fighters Charity, which helps members of the service in times of need.
