Firefighter from Crowborough rescues stuck daughter

  • 6-3-2010

A three-year-old girl from Sussex was rescued by her firefighter father after becoming stuck in a bed headrest.

Watch manager Bob Beard was on duty when he was called to his own house in Crowborough after his daughter's head became wedged on Wednesday morning.

The toddler was freed by the fire crew who rotated her head to release her.

Mr Beard said: "The last thing you expect to do is to go to your own property and perform a rescue on a member of your own family."

Mr Beard said he first knew of the situation when he saw the emergency print-out at work with his home address on.

When he and the rest of the crew arrived at the house in Eridge Road they laid the girl on her back and turned her head to get her out.
