The car on fire in Peckham The teenager found in the car died of a bullet wound to the head

A body found in a burnt-out car in south-east London has been identified as that of a 17-year-old boy, Metropolitan Police has said.

Firefighters found Samuel Ogunro after the fire on Jowett Street in Peckham was extinguished on Tuesday.

He died of a bullet wound to the head. Police believe the silver Rover may have been parked on the street for up to two weeks and was bought locally.

A 15-year-old boy was been arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday.

Officers said two to three suspects had been spotted running from the scene where the Rover, number plate V683 DPN, was on fire.

The vehicle may have been taken away for a time before being returned to the scene prior to the bank holiday weekend, police said.
