Suspicious fire at disused church in Darwen

Fire crews were called to a suspected arson attack at a disused church in Lancashire.

The empty building on Hollins Grove Street in Darwen caught fire just after 0300 BST on Monday, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said.

Four fire engines were sent to the scene and the blaze took about three hours to bring under control.

The incident is being treated as suspicious and an investigation into the cause of the fire has been opened.
