Four hurt in fire engine accident in Gloucester

Three firefighters and a car driver have been treated for minor injuries after a fire engine collided with a car in Gloucester and overturned.

The fire engine, which was on an emergency call, was travelling along Cole Avenue when the accident happened.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said the crash had taken place on Saturday evening at the traffic lights.

He said: "Any witnesses to the accident which happened at 8.30pm involving a silver Mercedes should contact police."

The road was closed for several hours while the collision was investigated, he added.
