Leeds man, 19, 'seriously injured' in ambulance crash

  • 5-21-2010

A 19-year-old man from Leeds is in hospital with life threatening injuries after his van collided with an ambulance in Sheffield, police said.

Officers said a marked paramedic car was driving along Granville Road while responding to an emergency call when it hit a van at 1210 BST on Thursday.

The van driver sustained serious head injuries and was taken to the Northern General Hospital, police said.

Officers from the South Yorkshire force appealed for witnesses to the incident.

The paramedic response car, a Volvo Estate, had been travelling away from Sheffield city centre when the Citron Berlingo van pulled out of Fitzwalter Road onto Granville Road, police said.
