  • 5-20-2010

A woman has died after her car collided with a fire engine in Birmingham.

The crash happened at the junction of Bunbury Road and Norman Road, Northfield, at 1805 BST on Tuesday.

West Midlands Police said the 39-year-old woman was taken to hospital, where she later died. Her nine-year-old daughter had minor injuries.

The fire engine driver and his crew were unhurt. West Midlands Fire Service has launched an internal investigation into the incident.

The fire service said the engine was part of a response team attending to reports of smoke from a high-rise building in the Rubery area.

Police are keen to speak to anyone with further information about the incident.
