Two men have escaped uninjured after a light aircraft made an emergency landing in a field near Whitby because of technical difficulties.

The plane which was travelling from Fishburn to Scarborough came down in a field at Runswick Bay on Wednesday.

The police, an air sea rescue helicopter, the coastguard and the air ambulance were all called to the scene.

The passenger and pilot were both examined but did not require any medical treatment.
