  • 5-20-2010

Firefighters tackling a blaze in a building in Stroud have recovered a body from the scene.

Emergency services were called to a three-storey block of flats at Matthews Way in the Paganhill area at 1758 BST on Wednesday.

They found the body in the burning building and took two people to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

The sex and age of the victim is unknown at present.

Residents from the block have been evacuated and taken to Paganhill Community Centre while the crews of six fire engines battle the flames.

Gloucestershire Fire Service say the fire is now under control.
