Road closed after car hits house in Bonvilston

The main commuter route to Cardiff from the Vale of Glamorgan has been closed following a car crash in the early hours of the morning.

South Wales fire service said they were called at around 0355 BST to Bonvilston where a car had driven into a house.

South Wales Police said the A48 is closed both ways between the Old Post pub near Bonvilston and Five Mile Lane because of the accident.

Rescue services said one person was out of the vehicle before they arrived.

A structural engineer has been called out to inspect the house.

The road closure is expected to last for the majority of the morning's rush hour and delays are expected.
