Schoolgirls rescued from island |

Two schoolgirls have been rescued after becoming stranded on an island in the middle of the River Ythan in Ellon. Grampian firefighters were called to the incident and used an aerial platform to aid one of the girls who suffered an injury to her lower back. The other girl was walked back to safety by firefighters. The girls, aged 13 and 15, were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary suffering from the effects of exposure following the rescue at about 2200 BST on Sunday. |
