Pigs die after farm building fire

  • 5-17-2010

Vets had to put down 25 piglets and 12 sows which had been caught in a burning farm building in Norfolk.

Firefighters helped rescue about 240 pigs, the majority of which were piglets, from a piggery at Threxton Road, Saham Toney.

Firefighters were called shortly after 2100 BST on Saturday.

The fire was put out at about 2200 BST. The cause is not believed to be suspicious, Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said.
