An investigation into the cause of the fire will begin on Saturday

A fire at a psychiatric hospital near York, which reportedly set the roof alight, has been brought under control.

The blaze at Stockton Hall Psychiatric Hospital, in Stockton-on-the-Forest, is understood to have begun in a bedroom.

Fire crews spent about three hours tackling the flames and have stopped them from spreading to other wings.

North Yorkshire Fire Service said all staff and patients had been accounted for and there have been no reports of injuries.

An investigation is expected to begin on Saturday morning.
