Arley camping kit company hit by fire

  • 5-14-2010

A major fire at a unit used by a caravan and camping equipment firm is being treated as arson.

Up to 60 firefighters were sent to Jacksons of Arley at Arley Industrial Estate, Coventry, in the early hours.

Residents left their homes as a result of the fire, which was brought under control within about three hours after crews were called at about 0350 BST.

Police are appealing for information about any activity on the estate from 2000 BST on Thursday and 0330 BST.

A police spokesman said: "Officers worked throughout the night alongside partners to help ensure the safety of local residents.

"This included safely evacuating residents from their homes until it was safe for them to return."

Ken Probin from Warwickshire Fire Service said firefighters were doing what they could to help staff at the firm and businesses nearby.
