We are WSP, and we are seeking a dynamic, forward thinking and self-motivated Fire Engineering professional, to provide leadership to our Southern Team. The responsibility for this role spans our fire engineering teams in London, Birmingham, Cambridge and Bristol.

We are a vibrant community of specialists in many fields. Our fire engineers have varying backgrounds, but they are united by a passion for innovation and technical excellence.

Our fire team spans nearly 130 specialists, spread across our global offices from whom we are able to draw unrivaled expertise and experience. Fire Engineering forms a distinct design discipline in its own right, within the structure of WSP and we use our specialist knowledge to develop innovative and project specific solutions to aid our clients in achieving their aspirations.

As a self-motivated individual working without direct supervision, you will be responsible for project delivery, client interface, commercial and budgetary management and business development across multiple offices.

Key Requirements

A degree in Fire Engineering, Building Science or equivalent.
Achievement of, or working towards Chartered Engineer status
An extensive practical knowledge of the construction, consultancy and property industry
An excellent working knowledge of relevant technical software, CDM requirement and quality assurance processes
Significant experience of managing a team of Fire Engineering specialists.

Core Functions - Technical Skills

Ability to lead the delivery of multiple single and multi-disaplinary projects, of varing sizes.
Ability to negotiate with approval authorities on fire safety designs and proposals.
Lead the design process and encourage the team to deliver appropriate and cost effective solutions to the agreed programme, support those less experienced by technical review, mentoring and advice.
Manage internal design teams: establishing the design specification which responds to the clients expectations, and demonstrates compliance with the employer's requirements through the design process.
Carry  out periodic project reviews and identify and resolve risks affecting overall delivery.
