Two rescued from care home fire
Two elderly people have been rescued from the smoke-logged first floor
of a nursing home in Somerset.
Firefighters were called to Hillview Nursing Home in Berrow Road, Burnham-on-Sea,
after reports of the blaze in a first floor room.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue spokesman said the cause of the
fire was under investigation.
Six St John Ambulance crews also helped emergency services lead 28 elderly
or mentally ill people to safety.
'Shocked and confused'
It is believed 25 rooms in the building were damaged by heat, smoke and
water.
A South Western Ambulance spokeswoman said: "No-one was injured
or taken to hospital but several residents were left shocked and confused.
"The displaced residents were being relocated to nursing homes across
Somerset."
Hillview provides specialised care for people suffering from dementia
or mental health problems.
