Hotel fire needs 60 firefighters

About 60 firefighters have been tackling a blaze at an empty hotel in north Devon.

Eight fire engines and the aerial platform from Barnstaple were called to the Berkeley Hotel in Ilfracombe's Wilder Road.

Crews were alerted after smoke was seen coming out of the back of the building.

The fire affected all four floors of the property, which has been undergoing refurbishments, and an investigation into the cause of the blaze has begun.
