Appeal after woman hurt in fire

Police are appealing for witnesses to a house fire in Staffordshire in which a woman suffered 20% burns.

The woman is in a stable condition in hospital following the fire on High Street, Longnor, just after 2100 GMT on Wednesday, Staffordshire Police said.

Police said they would particularly want to speak to the man who raised the alarm at the nearby pub, the Cheshire Cheese.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious at this time, police added.

The woman is being treated at Wythenshawe Special Burns Unit.
