Boy, 16, charged after fire death

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with the manslaughter of a man who died after a fire at a block of flats.

Robert Griffiths, 57, suffered serious burns in the blaze on Lowlands Walk, Askern, Doncaster, on 12 November. He died in hospital six days later.

Two other residents, aged 36 and 49, and a neighbour who tried to help suffered minor injuries.

The boy was remanded in custody and was due to appear at Doncaster Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

A 17-year-old boy who was arrested in connection with the death was released without charge.
