Fire rescue at Indian restaurant
Four people were rescued from a flat above an Indian restaurant in Somerset
after a canopy in front of the premises caught fire.
An electrical fault is being blamed for the blaze in The Avenue, Minehead.
A fire service spokesman said crews had been unable to wake the occupants
at first, but eventually managed to rouse them and lead them to safety.
Smoke detectors had apparently been fitted at the restaurant, but did
not have any batteries in them.
The canopy was destroyed in the fire and a large area of the building
was heat damaged, the spokesman said.
