Fatal home fire victim identified
An elderly man who died when he became trapped inside his burning home
has been named by police.
James Adams, 76, died at the scene of the fire on Sunday morning in College
Road, Deal, Kent.
Police said his wife managed to get out of the property and raise the
alarm. Two officers and several members of the public tried in vain to
reach Mr Adams.
Fire and police teams said the cause of the blaze was unclear, but the
incident was not being treated as suspicious.
Crews from two engines were unable to save Mr Adams from the fire in
the early hours of Sunday.
