Protest over fire station plans

A protest march is being planned for a Warwickshire town against proposals to close its fire station.

Warwick mayor Martyn Ashford urged as many local people as possible to take part in the action on Sunday.

The town's fire cover could be provided from Leamington as part of a review being carried out by Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.

About 3,000 to 4,000 people have so far signed a petition calling for the station to stay in Warwick.

Mr Ashford said: "The public are clearly concerned that we are losing a vital emergency service in the area."
