Fatal fire in ground floor flat
A woman has died in a fire in her flat in Essex.
Fire crews were called to the ground floor flat in Southbourne Grove, Westcliff, on Sunday afternoon to tackle the blaze in a bedroom.
A woman, believed to be about 60, was found in bed. A fire service spokesman said there was nothing that could have been done to save her.
A joint police and fire and rescue service investigation has begun into the cause of the incident.
