Fundraising car wash after fire

Firefighters in Stoke-on-Trent have been raising money for families of four Warwickshire colleagues who died in a warehouse blaze.

Crews from Longton fire station were holding a special car wash on Saturday following the blaze at Atherstone-on-Stour on 2 November.

Ian Reid, 44, Ashley Stephens, 20, John Averis, 27, and Darren Yates-Badley, 24, died in the incident.

A fund created by Warwickshire County Council has received more than £71,000.

Craig Haines, from Longton fire station, said: "The type of job the fire service do nowadays is unbelievable and they go to a wide variety of incidents.

"But when something like this happens, it's not just regional. It affects you nationally and the charity car wash is just to raise funds for the family."
