Funds raised for warehouse dead

Warwickshire firefighters have been fundraising in town centres to support families of four colleagues who died as a result of a warehouse blaze.

Ian Reid, 44, Ashley Stephens, 20, John Averis, 27, and Darren Yates-Badley, 24, died following the blaze at Atherstone-on-Stour on 2 November.

Crews were due in Leamington and Warwick on Saturday to ask for public donations to an appeal fund.

A fundraising concert was held at the Moat House Inn, Alcester, on Thursday.

Watch manager at Leamington fire station, Paul Vale, said: "Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service (have) lost four very valuable members, doing the job that they loved, cherished and carried out with full pride and dignity.

"It's a small price for ourselves to go out there on whatever day to collect for their families."
