Murder inquiry after mother dies

The death of a Coventry mother after a house fire is being treated as murder, police have said.

The 46-year-old woman was injured in the fire in Langdale Avenue, Holbrooks, on Tuesday evening and she died at City Hospital, Nottingham, on Wednesday.

Her six-year-old daughter suffered burns and is in a critical but stable condition at Birmingham Children's Hospital.

A 22-year-old man is still being questioned over the incident.

He was arrested on suspicion of arson on Wednesday and police have until Saturday morning to question him.

The dead woman has not been officially identified. Her two other children escaped the blaze unhurt.
