Firefighters attacked by youths

Firefighters were sworn at by a group of youths who then attacked them with stones when they were forced to return to tackle refuse fires in Hamilton.

In the first incident firecrews were called to the Hillhouse area shortly after 2100 GMT on Sunday.

Youths shouted abuse as the crew tackled the blaze but they were later called again to a second refuse fire.

The same youths then stoned the engine and crew but there were no injuries. Strathclyde Police are investigating.
