Two men rescued from flat blaze

A man has been taken to hospital with burns following a fire in a flat.

Emergency services were called to the fire in a first floor flat, in a nine-storey block, in Kings Heath, Birmingham, during Friday evening.

A fire service spokesman said crews rescued two men from the fire and both were taken to hospital. The second man was treated for smoke inhalation.

The fire was in the lounge area of the flat and 20 firefighters were called out to tackle it.
