Children charged after fish fire

Three young boys have been charged after a "ferocious" fire at a Peterhead fishing industry warehouse.

One boy aged 10 and two aged 11 will be reported to the procurator fiscal.

The fire at Scotia Boxes, on Port Henry Pier, on Saturday afternoon saw a "substantial" number of fish boxes and some vehicles damaged.

Estimates suggested the damage could amount to a six-figure sum. The boys are due to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court at a later date.

A Grampian Police spokesman said: "The boys were detained as a result of information we received from the public for which we are very grateful."

Six fire crews took several hours to bring the blaze under control.
