Fire causes £1m worth of damage
An investigation has been launched into the cause of a fire in a row of
houses in East Kilbride.
The blaze was reported at a new housing development in Blackbraes Road
shortly after 0330 GMT on Tuesday.
Strathclyde Fire and Rescue said the estimated cost of the damage was
believed to be in the region of £1m.
A spokesman said: "An investigation into the cause is underway.
At this stage we are unable to confirm whether it was a wilful act or
not."
Two buildings were completely destroyed and two others extensively damaged.
Det Con Ian Peebles appealed to anyone with information in relation to
the fire, or who may have witnessed anything significant, to contact him
at East Kilbride police station.
