Brigade respond to 60 fire calls

Cornwall fire control dealt with 60 emergency calls over a three-hour period on bonfire night.

A number of calls concerned bonfires that had burned out of control. No serious injuries were reported.

In Liskeard, fireworks were thrown at a garage. At Par Beach, three crews tackled a large caravan fire at a holiday park.

Twenty firefighters were called to a suspected arson attack at a derelict house in Pool.

Four people escaped unharmed from a fire at a house in Grange Road in Helston early on Tuesday morning, but were taken to hospital suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is to be investigated.
