Homes evacuated in arson inquiry

Homes in part of Newcastle had to be evacuated after a fire started in a terraced house in the city.

Firefighters asked more than 20 residents of Wellington Street, Leamington, to move out after the blaze broke out Sunday afternoon.

No-one was hurt during the incident and people were allowed to return after the fire was brought under control.

A 23-year male resident of Wellington Street was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
