Workshop fire leads to evacuation

About 300 people are being allowed back into their homes after they were removed following a fire in south London, London Fire Brigade said.

Four fire engines and 20 firefighters tackled the fire at a workshop in Norwood Road, west Norwood, after they were alerted at 1516 GMT.

A spokesman for LFB said concerns about a propane and an oxygen cylinder in the workshop led to the evacuation.

The firefighters were able to put out the blaze at 1725 GMT.

The spokesman said a third of the single storey workshop had been gutted by the fire.
