Fires 'caused by firework misuse'

Police believe fireworks misuse may have resulted in fires affecting two greenhouses belonging to elderly people in Aberdeenshire.

One of the greenhouses in Cuminestown was completely destroyed on Thursday evening, however the other fire in the village was extinguished.

The damage caused has been estimated at hundreds of pounds.

Grampian Police officers believe the fires may be linked and one possible cause was the misuse of fireworks.

A police spokesperson said: "These crimes appear to be related and have caused the police and local community some concern."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5700 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 .
