Boy is remanded over factory fire

A 17-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with arson after a fire which destroyed a bicycle factory in Beds.

Fifty firefighters spent more than 10 hours tackling the blaze at RJ Chicken and Sons in Kensworth near Dunstable which broke out on Wednesday night.

Two articulated lorry trailers parked near the building were also damaged by the intense heat.

The teenager, from the Dunstable area, has been remanded in custody by the town's magistrates until 5 November.
